Reasons Why You Should Buy a Mac Computer

You might have heard the noise, if you will call it that, about Mac computers and you probably wonder what all the hype is about. Well, if you really do not know what the fuss is all about, here are a number of reasons why you may need to consider a Mac computer when you are getting a new computer.

1. Junk-Free – A Mac computer, unlike some other computers around, is not loaded with lots of unwanted and useless demo applications. The OS X operating system used for Mac computers ensures speed and great performance that would have been hampered by some adware and demo ware you’ll find on other computers.

2. Reliability – An average Mac computer is more reliable in terms of performance as it crashes less. You do not have to endure slow performance and slow shutdowns as the computer has better memory management. The interface of the OS X operating system is simple and takes not much stress getting used to learning the tricks.

3. Lesser Security Concern – The number of viruses as well as spyware targeted at Mac computers is lesser compared to that focused on PCs. The authors of these malicious codes seem to have focused all their attention on Windows with little time to target OS X operating system, at least for the time being. Complaints of security attacks are less common among Mac users.

4. Better Software Support – One of the reasons why some users run away from Mac computers is because of its lesser compatibility with important software. However, things are changing as there are more and more software that users can run effectively on a Mac computer. Besides, Apple is one of the leading software makers in the world and most of its software run better on its own operating system and computers. Also, the Boot Camp feature on OS X Leopard allows users run applications meant for Windows operating system.

5. Great In-Person Support – What’s more? When you buy a Mac computer, you also get to enjoy personal technical support from Apple through its Genius Bar. You simply need to make a reservation at a local store to get issues addressed by Apple’s Geniuses.

Now, there are some reasons you may want to buy a Mac computer when planning to get a new computer.

Microsoft Announces Windows 8 App Store

Microsoft Corporation is obviously not going to lie back and allow Apple Inc. take the whole market to itself. The company has announced the Windows Store a couple of days back to provide applications for the next version of its operating system, Windows 8, when launched.

Windows Store, according to Microsoft, will provide applications for all computers running on Windows 8 operating system when launched next year. The store will be a full-screen app to be based on HTML 5 as well as JavaScript. The move is probably driven by desire to keep up with the success of the Mac App Store, which was launched by Apple last January.

Applications that make use of Metro-style touch user interface can be submitted by developers for inclusion in the store. Microsoft will start accepting apps from developers for the Windows Store when the public beta version of Windows 8 is unveiled late February 2012.

The company said some of the apps to be submitted to the store could be offered for free or could be paid. For paid apps, Microsoft will normally take 30 percent as commission, and the minimum cost for apps will be $1.49; except if they are free. Developers will, however, get as much as 80 percent of apps sales revenue with Microsoft’s commission dropped to 20 percent for apps with over $20,000 in revenue.

There will also be a commission charged for apps making use of the store’s in-app purchase system, but developers can avoid paying commission to Microsoft through the use of their own system of payment.

In order to make it easier for users to find apps, the apps will be indexed by search engines. There is also website-to-app linking option for developers that can be implemented by making use of some codes.

Windows Store apps will be compatible with computers running on Windows 8 in over 200 markets all over the world.
